BlackBerry Torch 9860 and the Bold 9900 on Sale from Optus

Optus is the company that can be held responsible for bringing smiles to BlackBerry lovers all over Australia. The BlackBerry Bold Optus and the BlackBerry Torch Optus have been released into the Australian mobile market to compete against the other brands. The Torch Optus is actually RIM’s BlackBerry Torch 9860. This torch is simply an incredible phone that takes the definition of smartphone to a whole new level. It sports a slimline shape that will have no trouble at all sliding through one’s pocket. The phone packs a 1.2GHz processor, which doesn’t quite add up to the processing power that other phone manufacturers have granted their phones, but it is safe and secure to say that the Torch wouldn’t really need that much processing power. While of course it does need a reputable processing capability, anything north of 1.2GHz would simply mean you would have to dig deeper into your pockets to own this phone. A dedicated 5MP camera has been loaded onto the phone, with a capability of taking 720p HD videos. The torch also features 4GB of internal storage space, a very generous feature from RIM, one might add. This memory is also expandable using a 32micro SD card. This phone is basically a perfect fit for anyone that needs a business phone that will also ooze class and style. It may not handle the high tech games and fun experience that will come aboard the Droid, but apps will work to satisfaction on this phone.
The Bold Optus, on the other hand, is the Optus retail name for the BlackBerry Bold 9900. This phone is not too different from the Torch 9860, but it is quite the upgrade from its predecessors like the Bold 9780. The major difference between the Torch Optus and the Bold Optus may be in their touch screen capacity. The Bold features a full touch screen pad, but RIM decided to keep it loaded with BlackBerry’s all popular keyboard as well. The Torch, on the other hand, features a 3.7-inch touch pad and that’s it. Both phones, however, will be a perfect fit for the ardent BlackBerry lover.
So how much will an Australian have to dish out to own one of these BlackBerry toys? Well, the Torch will be free on the $49 cap for two years while the Bold will be capped at $79 for those two years. Anyone seeking to have any of these in Australia will, before mid-October, have to track one down from an Optus retail store as they have exclusive retail rights until then.
