BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 Finally Hits the UK Market

UK users admittedly feel more than a little disappointed that their counterparts in the rest of the world got to experience the feel of the new Bold 9900 before they did, but the BlackBerry Bold 9900 release date is finally here for them to own one too. August 12 will see the release of the new Bold, with a price plan starting at £31. Most phone users will admit that that isn’t the most modest price tag ever, but the specs that come along with this phone are enough evidence of why the phone goes for that price. Other phones like the BlackBerry Monaco, also known as the BlackBerry 9850 and the Tablet PC from the creators of the BlackBerry are also not known for their low starting prices, but for the features of their new phones are worth every penny.

Sporting a 1.2GHz processor, the Bold Touch 9900 is the fastest BlackBerry Phone that its creators have ever released. Not that it really even needs the generous processor it has been endowed with, but the owner will definitely flash a wide smile as he or she describes what their phone is capable of. A step up from the 9780, the 9900 comes with higher app capabilities. UK owners, however, won’t be too happy to learn that despite the phone packing the new OS 7, it still won’t ride as high in the app charts as phones running on the droid 2 platform, or the iOS operating system either. RIM will have to go back to the drawing board to come up with a platform that will level these platform’s capabilities and even overtake them. BlackBerry Maps, for example will have to be replaced with Google Maps if the owner of the phone will want to enjoy a complete mapping experience.

Away from the new but still not good enough, the other features within the phone will bring pure joy to the owners. The 5MP camera, for example, can take excellent 720p HD videos, not common in every phone. The web browser embedded within the phone also takes down web browsers from most other phones, as it is faster and more user friendly than most other phone web browsers.

The sleek design of the phone also gives it an outstanding score in the looks department, not to mention the touch screen experience that the phone offers, in addition to the all popular BlackBerry keypad.
