Touch Screen BlackBerry Monaco

BlackBerry no doubt made the right decision to add a touch screen to its list of amazing BlackBerry features. Though the norm with most other phone companies, it took RIM some time to get used to the idea that the touch screen was fast gaining popularity over the QWERTY keyboard. A couple of years down the line, however, they have accepted that fact and come up with their own versions of the touch screen that are able to rival those of other phones. The BlackBerry Bold 9900 release date and that of the BlackBerry Monaco have been waited for with bated breath by thousands of BlackBerry users all over the globe.

The Monaco, in particular, is fully touch screen, just like the modern Tablet PC. Being the first all touch screens, a new move from RIM, it features the biggest screen in all of the BlackBerry world. It is a very long 3.5 inches, having 480 by 800 pixels of resolution. It might not really rock among QWERTY keypad lovers, but for the modern and youthful generation, it will definitely cause a few ripples of excitement amongst them. Bearing a 120 by 62 by 11.5 mm form factor, the phone is also relatively thin compared to its predecessors with only a few phones beating it, like the BlackBerry Bold 9900 which is 10.5mm thick.

Performance-wise, this phone takes down its predecessors rather easily. It sports a 1.2 GHz processor that suffices to make the phone much faster than most phones before it. 8GB of internal memory that is expandable using a 32GB micro SD card makes it one of the most memory endowed phones RIM has released to date. Even the Bold 9900 with 4GB internal memory bows to this particular phone. RIM chose to stick to its BlackBerry operating system and so far they are up to OS 7, which of course features in the Monaco. An excellent platform when compared with the ones before it, it still simply doesn’t beat Google’s Android. The team of engineers will have to really try to create a platform that will take down the iOS and the droid in terms of apps capability. The phone also packs 768MB, which works perfectly with the 1.2 GHz processing power to fire up the phone to lightning speed operations. High quality 720p video recording is made possible by the 5MP camera that is embedded within the phone. Anyone going out to get themselves a touch screen phone will have a blast taking a look at this one.
